Climb Mt Kenya - 5199 metres
Who can do it?
Any physically fit person can climb Mt. Kenya. No climbing experience is necessary to get you to the top of Kenya's highest Mountain (5,199M) with its magnificent gleaming glaciers, Flora & Fauna.
Weather
Mt Kenya can and is climbed at all times of the year. If possible however, it is best to avoid the two rainy seasons that may start in mid March and last through till mid June, the long rains, and from the late October through till end of November, the short rains. The driest times on the mountain are usually January till mid March and again July through mid October.
 
Routes
There are several routes to get up the mountain but the most popular one is the Sirimon route, other routes include Naro Moru route and Chogoria route.
   

Day 1 : Nanyuki Mt Kenya
Leave Nairobi in the morning and transfer to Mountain Rock campsite for lunch. Afternoon at leisure or walk to Maumau Caves. Dinner and overnight at Campsite.

Day 2 : Sirimon Track
A short drive in the morning will take us to the Sirimon track. Acclimatization walk (5 hours), to Old Moses camp through the rain forest. Night at Old Moses Camp. (3400 m)

Day 3 : Mackinders Valley
Via Mackinders Valley we walk from Old Moses Camp to Shipton's camp (5-8 hours walk) Dinner and Overnight at Shiptons Camp.

Day 4 : Point Lenana
Early in the morning we climb Point Lenana (4985m). On a very clear day, we should be able to see Kilimanjaro in the South, Mt Elgon to the west and Indian Ocean to the East.
Descend to the Meteorological Station (6-7 hours walk).
Night at Meteorological Station Banda.

Day 5 : Nairobi
We descend early in the morning to Naro Moro park gate where we take our transfer truck back to Nairobi arriving late afternoon.


 
NB. Normally it takes 5 days 4 nights to climb to climb this mountain but strong and physically fit climbers have taken fewer days to climb to the top. This will shorten the itinerary to about 3 to 4 days
